I encountered the need to install the excellent Smartsupp Chat on a client's website. Unfortunately, the Smartsupp module hasn't been developed for Joomla versions beyond 3.X. While it's true that the code snippet can be easily installed on any template, I decided to create this simple module based on the version presented on the Chat provider's website.
This is an initial version that will likely be enhanced in the future with additional features and user variables (for registered website users).
You must assign the module to a template position present on all pages where you want the Chat to appear.
If you do not have a suitable position you must edit the template to add it.
Installation guide for Smartsupp Live Chat Module for Joomla:
- Download the Live Chat module.
- Install the module through Joomla's Extension Manager (Extensions > Manage > Install).
- Create an account on the chat service provider's website.
- Copy the KEY provided by the service provider.
- Go to Extensions > Modules, find the Live Chat module and open it.
- Paste your KEY in the module parameters.
- Publish the module in a position that appears on all pages of your site (depends on your template) or assign it to the DEBUG position for testing.
- Save and close the module settings.
That's it! The Live Chat service should now be available on your website.
